Vossloh Aktiengesellschaft has secured a €75 million contract to deliver rail fastening and switch systems for Morocco’s new high-speed rail. This contract supports the creation of a rapid connection between Casablanca and Marrakesh. This was reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

The agreement with Morocco’s national railway operator ONCF includes phased deliveries, beginning with rail fasteners in 2024 and extending through 2028. Switch systems and components will be supplied from 2025, aiming for the project’s completion by the 2030 FIFA World Cup, advancing Morocco’s high-speed rail network.

The Casablanca-Marrakesh high-speed line will allow travel at speeds up to 320 km/h, significantly reducing travel time between the two cities. This project is part of Morocco’s ambitious plan to expand its high-speed rail, which currently includes the Tangier-Kenitra line, where trains already reach over 300 km/h.

On October 28, 2024, Vossloh signed the contract in Rabat, attended by King Mohammed VI of Morocco, French President Emmanuel Macron, and a French business delegation. This event underscores international investment in Morocco’s rail infrastructure development.

“We’re honored to continue our partnership with ONCF, which trusts us with this key project,” said Oliver Schuster, CEO of Vossloh AG. He highlighted the importance of quality and reliability in providing rail fastening and switch systems for high-speed lines capable of meeting passenger and transit demands.

Vossloh’s commitment to quality engineering reinforces its position as a preferred partner for high-speed infrastructure. By supplying advanced rail fastening and switch systems, Vossloh helps Morocco progress toward its goal of an interconnected, sustainable transit system, expected to expand to 1,300 kilometers by 2040.

Morocco’s high-speed rail project positions it as a strategic link between Africa and Europe, drawing international interest. Vossloh’s involvement in North Africa contributes to the vision of green, efficient rail solutions globally, fostering economic growth and tourism.
